Westmead is a suburb in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Westmead is located 26 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Cumberland Council and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

The Parramatta River, Toongabbie Creek, and Finlayson Creek form the northern boundaries of Westmead. Parramatta Park, the Parramatta Golf Club, Amos Street, and Good Street form the eastern boundary. The Great Western Highway forms the southern boundary. Bridge Road, the railway line, and Finlayson Creek form the western boundary.

Fr. Parramatta founded the Parramatta Marist School. Mr. George Morley directed John Therry at Hunter Street, Parramatta, in 1820. The school was moved to the current junior high school site in 1837 and handed over to the Marist Brothers in 1875. As a result, Parramatta Marist is Australia’s oldest Catholic school.

When an Infants’ School opened in a rented Church of England hall in April of 1917, Westmead Public School was established. The current location was purchased in 1919, and the first purpose-built school building was dedicated in May 1920. The structure was expanded in 1923 to accommodate primary school students. Within two years, the rising local population necessitated additional Primary student housing. Westmead Public School is now one of NSW’s best primary schools, with outstanding academic, sports, and artistic achievements. It has about 900 students and a large number of professional professors and staff.
