Mona Vale is a Sydney suburb in New South Wales, Australia. It’s 28 kilometers north of Sydney’s central business district, in the Northern Beaches district. Formerly the administrative centre of Pittwater Council, it is now part of Northern Beaches Council’s local government area. The Garigal people are the area’s traditional custodians. It is often referred to as “Mona” colloquially.

Mona Vale is home to two primary schools and a high school, as well as an RSL club, a park, a public library, a golf course, a hospital, a world-class skate park, a bus depot, and three supermarkets, and a diverse range of stores and enterprises. There are also a lot of walking paths and tracks in the area.

The main beach in Mona Vale is adjacent to the golf course and a variety of parks and reserves, and it includes a small beach with a children’s and lap pool at its northern end. There is a second beach north of here called “The Basin,” which features a concentrated wave known as “Whomp” since the early 2000s and is popular with body boarders. Mona Vale is a famous beach for surfing with beach breaks including “Main,” “Suck Rock,” and “Rip Bowl.”
