The small town of Wynyard is nestled on the northwest coast of Tasmania, Australia. It is 17 kilometres west of Burnie, and just over 5,000 people call it home.

Wynyard’s name derives from a combination of its position within East Gippsland. This regional hub services nearby rural areas along with the adjacent Burgoyne Bay and Brunswick Peninsula. The Wynyard Railway Station was opened in 1891 along with another railway station in Brighton to serve outlying agricultural areas and their associated communities.
