The Sydney Town Hall is a popular destination situated in the heart of town, with its grand dome and sweeping staircase. It is situated above the bustling transportation hub and between two popular retail districts. People crowd the Town Hall, wherein the station is full of people buzzing about their days as they wait for trains or buses to take them home after work hours; others are in town on a lunch break from one project to another. This 19th-century heritage-listed monument has been hosting various events.

Rich in architectural history with the most exquisite design, the Town Hall dominates Sydney’s central business district and has been operational since 1884 to service this area in civic, administrative, social and economic affairs. The architecture was commissioned by Thomas Stapleton, who also designed other historic buildings such as Queen Victoria Building; now, it houses many government departments, including council chambers for both City Councils (Central & Eastern), Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages, NSW Supreme Court Library among others.

The Town Hall is known by many other names: Centennial Hall, Peace Hall, Old Burial Ground, Main Hall, and Great Hall. It has been listed on the National Estate and New South Wales State Heritage Register, making it an even more special building for people visiting the Sydney city area.
