Castle Hill is located 30 kilometers northwest of the Sydney central business district and 9.5 kilometers north of Parramatta. It is a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and within the Hills District region between the local government areas of The Hills Shire and Hornsby Shire. 

Residents of Castle Hill have a personal income of 18.9% more than the national median. The median property sale price in Castle Hill in March 2019 was A$1.4 million.  The cost of living is often higher in the suburbs north of Castle Hill. The average property sale price in the suburbs south of Castle Hill is lower.

The commercial centres in Castle Hill are located in the section of the Old Northern Road on the suburb’s eastern side. The modest-sized Castle Mall shopping mall is located on the city’s southern edge and on an older, traditional commercial strip. The large Castle Towers shopping mall, with two department stores and two Event cinema multiplexes, dominates the city’s northern side. In 2004, a new library and community centre was built next to Castle Towers, with a unit residential complex on the higher floors.
