Proudly Serving Alexandria

Alexandria is a small suburb that’s located two miles south of the Sydney CBD. It has a population of roughly 18,000, and it was incorporated in 1880 as Alexandria Estate, with its name later being shortened to “Alexandria”. Alexandria and nearby towns were given their names as a tribute to Britain’s famous victories against France at battles like that of El Alamein (1942) or Waterloo (1815).

The Botany Road to the east, Gardeners Road to the south, Mitchell and Sydney Park on its western side and Boundary positioned in the north are some of Alexandria’s distinct boundaries. It is only a short distance (2 km) away from Central station. 

Alexandria is a densely populated area with multiple industrial areas. This town was once mostly terraced housing, but this land has been demolished for light industrial use and warehousing. A few quiet residential areas remain along the northern boundary with Erskineville and Waterloo.

Several portions of this town are undergoing major changes. Modern retail shops and businesses are being built to replace the old ones, while high-density housing complexes have been built up all over town.

South Sydney Markets is an all-inclusive marketplace located in O’Riordan St. Alexandria. Visitors can find fresh produce and handmade crafts from the local vendors that are there every week. Aside from selling produce and locally made artisan items, face painting stations and a zoo full of animals are also local attractions for families with kids.
