The Sydney Town Hall is a popular destination situated in the heart of town, with its grand dome and sweeping staircase. The architecture was commissioned by Thomas Stapleton, who also designed other historic buildings such as Queen Victoria Building; now, it houses many government departments, including council chambers for both City Councils (Central & Eastern), Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages, NSW Supreme Court Library among others.

The Town Hall is known by many other names: Centennial Hall, Peace Hall, Old Burial Ground, Main Hall, and Great Hall. It has been listed on the National Estate and New South Wales State Heritage Register, making it an even more special building for people visiting the Sydney city area.
