The small town of Wynyard is nestled on the northwest coast of Tasmania, Australia. It is 17 kilometres west of Burnie, and just over 5,000 people call it home.

Wynyard’s name derives from a combination of its position within East Gippsland. This regional hub services nearby rural areas along with the adjacent Burgoyne Bay and Brunswick Peninsula. The Wynyard Railway Station was opened in 1891 along with another railway station in Brighton to serve outlying agricultural areas and their associated communities. The Waratah-Wynyard Council is in charge of all decisions that occur within the district.

Wynyard is a well-known seaside town that combines relaxation and activity. Table Cape Lighthouse is a lighthouse situated on the 120 hectare Table Cape State Reserve.
