Proudly Serving Ryde

Ryde is a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Ryde is 13 kilometers north of Sydney’s central business center and 8 kilometers east of Parramatta. Ryde is the administrative center of the City of Ryde’s local government area and is located in the Northern Sydney region. It is located on the Parramatta River’s north bank. North Ryde, West Ryde, and East Ryde are separate suburbs from Ryde.

Ryde was named after the Isle of Wight town of Ryde. It is possible that it came from G.M. Pope, a native of Ryde, Isle of Wight, who settled in the area and established the “Ryde Store.” Ryde became known as ‘Top Ryde’ because of its location at the top of the hill. The former Ryde Swimming Centre was dismantled and replaced by the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre, which held events during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Top Ryde is an unofficial locality in Ryde that encompasses the suburb’s commercial district, which is centered around Devlin Street and Blaxland Road. On the corner of Devlin Street and Blaxland Road, Top Ryde City is a prominent shopping center. The original Top Ryde shopping centre on this site was the country’s second of its kind.

Santa Rosa Park is located between Quarry Road and Bridge Road. It features a separated pathway for walking and bike riders. Shrimpton’s Creek runs through the park in a north-easterly direction flowing into the Lane Cove River. The park is used for football and cricket. Gannan Park was once a quarry and brickworks and is accessed from Buna Court, Minga Street, and McAuley Park.
