Bronte is known for its beautiful, semi-secluded beach on the outskirts of Sydney. The most popular attraction in Bronte is its serene bay and sandy shores.

The sandstone cliffs where Bronte Beach meets the Pacific Ocean are covered in lush greenery and were once frequented by Aboriginal people. The area was considered sacred to them as it had many natural resources such as freshwater from a waterfall and various plants that would be used for food, medicine or shelter.

Located in Bronte Park, Bronte offers scenic cliff-top walking paths south to Coogee via the Waverley Cemetery and north to Tamarama and Bondi Beach. From clear bottomless water perfect for snorkelling near Dolly’s Bay all the way up into natural rock pools with waterfall cascades that are best appreciated when peering down from high above on Cliffwalk Walkway.

Until recent times, Bronte remained an unknown entity even to locals in Sydney. It was only in 2008 when this town started to gain attention from locals and visitors alike for its pristine coastal and scenic views. The Sydney Morning Herald regarded this as one of Sydney’s best towns last 2008. 

Bronte House, the famed Georgian-style manor, was once home to one of Canada’s most celebrated poets – Anne Brontë. In Waverly Cemetery, visitors will find her final resting place among other famous literary figures like Stephen Leacock, John McCrae as well as actors such as Sarah Bernhardt.
